#8. Award-Show Blooper
When Sally Field accepted an Emmy Award for Best Actress for her role as a mother
whose son served in Iraq and Afghanistan, she thanked the cast, crew, caterers
and others, before trying to make a broader statement about women and war. "Let's
face it," she said. "If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no God"
At which point, the time-delayed broadcast cut to a different camera shot
and censored the rest of her sentence, which ended, "damned wars in the first
place!" The FOX network, which did not apologize to Field, said it cut her off to comply with indecency regulations.
